Learn The Hidden Truth About The Miracle Marijuana Plant
There is a hidden truth about a certain miracle plant. For years western medicine has suppressed its properties to make room for pharmaceutical drugs. This plant is commonly called Marijuana or Cannabis, a name after the scientific name Cannabis sativa while the chemical substances derived from this plant are generally referred to as cannabinoids.
Many people who have suffered different degrees of pain from accidents, surgeries due to health-related diseases such as emotional pain (depression), cancer pain, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and various mental disturbances among others can vividly describe what it feels to be whole, hale and hearty. That is after getting relief from smoking or taking the drug in other forms.
The following are some clinical trials showing the power of what this miracle plant can do for so many suffering from illnesses that are only being masked by western medicine.
Cannabis has been reported in a clinical trial of its health or medical benefit which include but not limited to pain relief, anxiety relief, depression, reduces redness, hotness, swollen and painful body parts, reduces appetite, increases appetite, reduces vomiting, reduces seizure and convulsion, suppresses muscle spasms, improves sleep, reduces blood sugar levels, prevents nervous degeneration, treats bacterial and fungal infection, blocks the growth of cancerous cells and promotes bone growth.
Cannabis has also been reported in another clinical trial to have a beneficial effect on young children with seizures and autism. However, there is a need to ascertain the medical effects of cannabis through clinical trials.
THE PAIN KILLING POWER OF CANNABIS IN A CLINICAL TRIAL
Chronic pain is one of the major reasons for using cannabis because it is most times difficult to treat. One out of every five adults in Europe suffers from moderate to severe pain while about 38% of patients complained about inadequate pain management.
Chronic pain can affect people’s quality of life as it prevents them from carrying out their daily activities of living and as a result, they may develop other health issues such as depression, anxiety, or sleeping disorders.
Cannabis has been shown to reduce chronic pain, anxiety and depression in 338 people suffering from muscular and skeletal pain accompanied by tiredness, weakness, loss of sleep, memory and mood problems, this condition are known as fibromyalgia.
Cannabis was given to these patients at 5mg per day with no other pain medications, after which their initial level of pain has been measured by a visual analog score (VAS) by asking them to choose from 0 to 10 cm to explain their pain intensities from no pain to worst imaginable pain, they were given follow up visits for one to twelve months.
Result Interpretation: The chart showed that Cannabis started showing effect by reducing chronic pain after 3 months of using the drug and follow up, this effect can be observed by 6 months and 12 months of follow up.
Result Interpretation: Cannabis also reduced anxiety and depression after 3 months of using the drug and follow up, this effect can also be observed by 6 months and 12 months of follow up. However, the reducing effect of cannabis did not improve after 3months of using the drug.
SIDE EFFECTS OF CANNABIS IN THE CLINICAL TRIAL
It is noteworthy to mention that in the clinical trial of cannabis, 124 patients withdrew from the therapy, 79 withdrew because of inefficacy while 33 withdrew because of side effects ranging from sleepiness (30%) and mental confusion (25%) which may be as a result of a compound known as tetrahydrocannabinoid (THC) or Bedrocan.
However, the side effects resolved after the drug has been stopped. There are other reasons why patients pulled out of cannabis treatment which include cost, medical problems, and remission pain; that is, little or no pain.
OTHER CLAIMED HEALTH EFFECTS OF CANNABIS FROM OTHER CLINICAL TRIALS
There are several clinical trials showing positive results for the health benefits of cannabis. However, this evidence-based is changing over time and are they are summarized below:
- As Anti-emetics: That is, cannabis can be used to treat the sensation to vomit or vomiting (nausea and vomiting) during the treatment of cancer.
According to the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) concluded in 2017 that cannabis given by mouth has sure evidence that cannabinoids (chemical components in the cannabis plant) are effective against sensation to vomit and vomiting as a result of other drug usages.
- Stimulation of Appetite in HIV/AIDS Patients: A cannabis component known as Marinol was approved in the US to improve appetite in patients with AIDS-related loss of appetite and emaciation based on a very small clinical.
- Treatment of Muscle Spasm and Neuropathic Pain: A component of cannabis known as nabiximols given to patients by nasal spray, some patients who received this nasal spray in addition to their existing treatment reported less muscle spasm but the effect is moderate.
- Treatment of Epilepsy: In another clinical trial, cannabis oil (Cannabidiol or CBD) showed significant reduction of epileptic seizures in children but more controlled clinical trials are needed to ascertain the dosage of cannabidiol that reliably produce a positive effect and reduce side effect to the barest minimum as well as interaction with other drugs used in the treatment of epilepsy.
- Treatment in Children with Autism: Cannabis has been used in children within the age range of 4 and 22 years with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)as they show aggression, self-injury, hyperactivity or restlessness, and anxiety.
In a clinical trial conducted in Israel, after cannabis (cannabinol) oil was given by mouth, hyperactivity, self-injury, sleep problems, and anxiety were greatly improved as 51 out of 53 children had improved symptoms.
Nevertheless, in some cases, this treatment had no effect and a very small number of cases had their symptoms worsened. There is a need for clinical trials on a large commercial scale.
Side effects include strong desire for sleep and feeling of drowsiness (Somnolence), decreased appetite, increased appetite, lack of sleep (insomnia), eyes blinking, sense abnormality response to temperature, diarrhea, hair loss, confusion, inability to hold urine (urinary incontinence), redness of the eyes, and constipation.
WHAT YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND ABOUT CANNABIS
There is no doubt that miracle marijuana plant produces effects that are beneficial to health.
In most clinical trials, cannabis extract, oil, and other cannabis preparations work best when given by mouth as other methods of administration such as injection and smoking can produce undesired effects such as mental confusion, hallucinations, paranoia, heart diseases and dependence (addiction).
Consequently, cannabis is not suitable for long term use. It is also worth noting that cannabis is not the answer to everyone’s pain and it also produces more desirable effects when used in addition to other drugs.
Finally, there is still a need for more clinical trials on cannabis to master the precise dosage and reduce side effects.
